Project31 Acrobatics Program: Where Technique Meets Fun!

At Project31, acrobatics is not just a class – it’s our specialty.

Led by seven expert instructors, all certified in the Acrobatic Arts curriculum and trained in CPR and First Aid, our program offers a safe, supportive environment where athletes can thrive.

We believe in building a strong foundation before mastering big tricks. Our approach focuses on proper progressions, emphasizing alignment, strength, and technique to ensure long-term success and prevent injuries both inside and outside the studio. We prioritize safe growth, allowing our athletes to develop skills they can carry through a lifetime of acrobatics.

Our classes take place on state-of-the-art sprung floors with carpet-bonded foam for maximum safety and comfort. Students also have access to a range of specialized equipment including inclines, crash mats, octagons, and other developmental tools that help build strength, flexibility, and confidence.

With the perfect mix of fun and technique, your child will fall in love with acrobatics at Project31. Whether they’re flipping, twisting, or balancing, they’ll gain the skills needed for both impressive tricks and a strong acrobatic career.

The program uses original music with lyric cues and targets three key areas:

  • Stretch: Enhances flexibility and range of motion.

  • Strength: Engages exercises to build physical strength and control.

  • Skills: Helps preschoolers develop social skills, confidence, and AcroDance movement.

READY SET ACRO | 30 MINs

HIp Hop & Acro Combo | 45 MINS

In our Hip Hop & Acro Combo class, dancers experience the perfect blend of high-energy dance and acrobatics. We kick off with 20 minutes of exciting hip hop grooves to get our bodies moving and energized. Next, dancers dive into 25 minutes of acrobatic and drills, building strength, flexibility, and technique. This class covers the foundational elements from levels 1-3 of the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, giving dancers a well-rounded experience in both styles. It’s the ultimate class for those looking to have fun while mastering both hip hop and acro skills!

Level 2 | 30 MINS

In our 30-minute Level 2 class, dancers transition to a more structured environment, with an increased focus on technique, alignment, and conditioning. This class is designed to help students refine their foundational acrobatic skills, as they begin mastering advanced movements like handstands, headstands, rolls, cartwheels, bridges, and kickovers. With a strong emphasis on building strength and control, dancers will continue to progress with proper form and technique, setting the stage for even more challenging skills ahead!

Level 3 |55-60 MINS

In this level, dancers focus on refining their technique, starting with mastering the fall to bridge and transitioning smoothly back up with proper form and muscle control. Key skills to develop include performing bridge kickovers with straight legs on both sides, exploring different cartwheel variations, perfecting handstand balance, and mastering backward rolls and pre-back extension rolls. Front limbers are also worked on for smooth execution. Additionally, dancers start building the strength and control necessary to successfully execute back handsprings and side aerials.

Level 4 | 55-75 MINS

In this level, dancers build upon the strength and flexibility developed in Level 3, taking their skills to the next level. Key objectives include mastering the handstand chest roll to toe rise, handstand forward roll, and exploring various headstand variations. Dancers also work on holding a 40-second plank and V-sit, as well as completing 25 consecutive upper body lifts. Dive rolls and one-handed cartwheel variations are introduced, and dancers transition from kickovers to back walkovers. Throughout this level, acrobats focus on conditioning their bodies, laying the groundwork for more advanced skills in Levels 5 and 6.

Pop cartwheels are introduced as well. Strength training intensifies, with dancers expected to hold positions like V-sit, tabletop, superhero, and plank for 50 seconds. Additionally, dancers should be able to complete 30 upper body lifts while maintaining consistent form and effort.

Key goals include performing the Arabian handstand to forward roll from a piked position, transitioning from bridge to chest roll, and executing hurdle round-off rebounds. Dancers also focus on mastering flying cartwheels, front and back walkovers with various variations, and achieving 10-second holds in advanced balances like headstands (with two leg positions), forearm stands, and chest stands with straight legs. Strength training intensifies, with dancers required to hold positions for 60 seconds, perform push-ups with good form, and complete 35 upper body lifts while maintaining control and proper technique.

While dancers choose a primary focus, they continue to train in both areas to develop well-rounded skills. Tumbling training progresses toward advanced aerial skills, including the front aerial walkover, back aerial step-out layout, back layout, twisting skills, and tucks, along with mastering skill connections.
